Step 1 of 5

Watch our quick video to see how easy this Millionaires Shortbread recipe really is!

Step 2 of 5

Easy Millionaire's Shortbread

Put the crushed biscuits into a bowl with the melted butter. Mix it together thoroughly, then press the mixture into the base of your tin. Chill for ten minutes.

If you're in a hurry, you can also put the tin in the freezer to chill and set each layer.  Also we've suggested using extra baking parchment to hang over the edges of the tin as you'll be able to lift your finished millionaire's shortbread recipe out with ease!

Step 3 of 5

Easy Millionaire's Shortbread

Gently heat the sugar and remaining butter in a heavy based, non-stick pan, stirring until melted. Add the condensed milk and bring to a rapid boil, stirring continuously. Cook for around a minute or until the filling has thickened. Pour the caramel over the base, then allow to cool. Once cooled, chill in the fridge or freeze until set.

Step 4 of 5

Easy Millionaire's Shortbread

Melt the chocolate in separate bowls. Pour the dark chocolate over the caramel and then add spoonfuls of the melted white chocolate. Swirl together with a spoon for a marbled effect that'll ensure your millionaire's shortbread recipe looks as good as it tastes.

Step 5 of 5

Easy Millionaire's Shortbread

Place back into the fridge to chill until set. Once set, remove from the tin, dip a sharp knife into hot water (this will make it much easier to cut) and then dry it briefly before using it to cut the shortbread into squares.

These scrumptious squares are great to share with friends but if you do have any left over you can keep them for up to two weeks. Simply put in an airtight container and pop it in the fridge.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great taste I've made this today and it tastes amazing! Next time I make it I will use a bit more butter when mixing with the shortbread for the base as my first attempt just crumbles away when I try and cut it into squares. Will just cut it when planning on having a square!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Okish The biscuit base was very crumbly and it was very hard to cut through the chocolate. It ended in a bit of a mess but tasted great

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family favourite I made this for the 1st time last week after realising the sweet treat everyone in the family wants is caramel shortbread. For a fraction of the price thought I'd try making my own. Its turned into a weekly lockdown request with delivery to all friends and family. It tastes much better than shop bought and you can play around with how much ingredients you want so if you want a thick chocolate top, just melt more chocolate. Making this again now. Just waiting for caramel to chill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous! Made this for my hubby for Valentine’s Day. He loved it and so did the kids! It does help having a candy / sugar thermometer as it can take a while for it to get to the right temperature. It needs to be 112-115C for the texture to be correct. We also use salted butter in our caramels as it makes the flavour more intense.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So tasty. I made this for Christmas treats and everyone loved it. I’m making more today as grownup daughter prefers it to a cake. It’s so easy to make and ingredients are all store cupboard ingredients. I will always keep a couple of tins of Carnation Condensed milk on hand in future.
